IS MID LEVELS A SAFE AREA IN HONG KONG TO AVOID ALCOHOL OR DRUG PROBLEM?
Mid Levels predominately residential area of Hong Kong and although it’s physical location differs from other districts such as Central, Soho, or Wan Chai, where alcohol and drug usage in Hong Kong may be more visually obvious as problematic. However, an alcoholic or drug addict doesn’t have to be living on the streets or be seen day in day out in the local bars to qualify as having a problem.
Prior to admitting to themselves (or others pointing out) many of our clients could view themselves as social drinkers or drinking like a lady (or gentleman) with a few glasses of wine or a few beers to unwind after a stressful week, day or morning!
It is very common people who drink at home, who can manage to work fulltime, mind the kids and take care of the family home either have no awareness of alcohol being a problem or if they are one step further admit to being a functioning alcoholic. Either way many would not even contemplate looking for an alcohol counsellor in Mid Levels or other districts in Hong Kong.
